2016 Acura ILX Buyer's Guide
The 2016 Acura ILX is all-new for the upcoming model year. Offered only as a four-door sedan, this version of the Acura ILX tries to recapture the spirit of the original performance oriented entry-level Acura models such as the original Acura Integra and its follow-up, the Acura RSX. The look of the car has been updated with new headlights, a new grille treatment, new alloy wheels, LED taillights, and new rear lower fascia. These changes are calculated to give the ILX a more sporting appearance. However, the ILX is an Acura, so cutting edge tech and purposeful luxury still play a significant role as well. Further, the body has been stiffened and the engine, suspension, brakes, and steering have been upgraded to deliver more driving pleasure.

What makes it move?
For 2016, Acura’s ILX gets a direct-injected 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 201 horsepower and 180 ft-lbs of torque. This is 51 horsepower and 40 ft-lbs of torque more than the previously fitted 2.0-liter inline four was capable of generating. Feeding the front wheels is a new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with a torque converter and paddle shifters. Giving the 2016 Acura ILX the best of both worlds—manual shifts when wanted, automatic shifts when needed—this adds considerably to the sporting orientation of the car.
Why buy the 2016 Acura ILX?
Most people who fondly remember the Acura Integra and the RSX will be quite satisfied with the combination of sportiness and luxury delivered by the ILX—at this point in their lives. Meanwhile, those highly coveted younger buyers looking for something a bit more substantive in terms of luxury, but still craving that performance edge, will find in the ILX the next logical progression in terms of their maturation as drivers. The ILX is definitely sophisticated, offers all of the latest in driver assistance technology, looks good, and goes down the road with serious intent when called upon to do so. Long story short, one would be hard pressed to find a better-driving car with similar levels of equipment—and a premium badge at the Acura’s price.
