2016 Acura RLX Buyer's Guide
The 2016 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid four-door sedan is the all-wheel drive version of Acura’s flagship. The RLX Sport Hybrid goes into the 2016 model year with revisions to the chassis and suspension system to improve overall ride quality. Further, Acura’s product planning team has prescribed wider availability of driver aids and safety features. This means the model now offers road departure mitigation, a new all around camera system, and rear cross traffic alert. One of the best-kept secrets in the luxury car category, the 2016 Acura RLX also offers an outstanding array of standard features for its price. This includes many of the cutting-edge safety features most of the Acura’s competitive models consider optional—but at the same base price as the 2015 model.

What makes it move?
Employing a torque-vectoring hybrid powertrain, the 2016 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid’s combined system output is 377 horsepower and 341 ft-lbs of torque. The RLX’s direct injected 3.5-liter V6 engine is combined with a six-speed automatic transmission, a three-motor hybrid system, and Acura's signature Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) technology. The engine uses variable valve timing, a drive by wire throttle, and variable cylinder management to feed the front wheels. Two of the electric motors power the rear wheels, while the third serves as a generator.
Why buy the 2016 Acura RLX?
The 2016 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid is solidly crafted, offers a wealth of cutting-edge technological features (most as standard equipment), delivers a quiet and smooth ride, handles beautifully, and is exceptionally spacious. Value for the money is another reason to consider Acura’s hybrid flagship. In a world where luxury cars are pretty much defined by their presence, power, technology, and appointments, the 2016 Acura solidly delivers three of the four. Truth be told though, a certain segment of the populace prefers to blend into the background rather than stand out—even while enjoying the latest technology in a quiet, comfortable and spacious sedan. In other words, if you’re looking for something substantive but subtle, the AWD Sport Hybrid will nicely play the role for you.
