2015 Cadillac Escalade Buyer's Guide

The Cadillac Escalade took the large luxury SUV segment by storm when it was introduced back in 1999. While it didn’t invent the category, the big Caddy very quickly became the top of mind product in the segment. Fully redesigned for the 2015 model year, the Escalade’s styling is bolder than ever, with a look very similar to that of the Presidential limousine. The interior was treated to a makeover as well and the newly streamlined appearance brings a decidedly contemporary look to the cavernous passenger compartment. Easily the most refined Cadillac Escalade ever offered, the SUV is outfitted with a compelling selection of the latest comfort and convenience technologies—all surrounded by an abundance of premium materials composed into a highly attractive interior design.

What makes it move?

The Escalade’s power comes from a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 horsepower and 460 ft-lbs of torque. The first 2015 models built were configured with six-speed automatic transmissions, however the late-build 2015 models come with an eight-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is the standard powertrain configuration, and all-wheel drive is offered as an option. Further enhancing the Escalade experience is a new magnetic ride control solution. The Cadillac Escalade luxury SUV is good to tow up to 8,300 pounds when outfitted with the appropriate trailering kit.

Why buy the 2015 Cadillac Escalade?

Outstanding power, easy handling despite its size, and a quiet cabin atmosphere are among the Escalade’s many selling points. Wind noise, tire roar, and the engine are all muted to the point of insignificance. What’s more, the Escalade corners with considerable deliberation despite its size—and when it’s time to park, the Cadillac’s light low-speed steering makes whipping this big boy into the first suitable spot something of a breeze. While so obvious it seemingly goes without saying, passenger comfort is first rate. Second and third row seats fold at the touch of a button. There’s 15.2 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the third row, 51.6 cubic feet behind the second row, and 94.2 cubic feet with both the second and third rows folded.
