The Silverado 3500 is available with either a Vortec 6.0 liter gasoline V8 or a Duramax 6.6 liter Turbo-Diesel V8, in either two-wheel or all-wheel drive.
The E85 capable gasoline mill uses variable valve timing to produce 360 horsepower (trucks ordered with a pickup box delete are equipped with a 322 horsepower unit that isn’t E85 capable) and 380 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the wheels through a heavy-duty electronically controlled 6-speed automatic transmission.
The B20 capable diesel engine generates 397 horsepower and 765 lb-ft of torque, and includes a diesel exhaust brake to help slow the truck or maintain speed on long downgrades. All Duramax trucks use the Allison 1000 6-speed automatic transmission.
