What's New for the 2004 Chrysler Town & Country? With the Voyager scrapped for 2004, the Town & Country lineup gains a new regular-length model equipped with a standard V6 engine. Other changes are limited to the inclusion of a tire-pressure monitor, a revised keyless entry system and updated audio and entertainment packages. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the creation of the minivan, Chrysler will market a Platinum Series model with chrome wheels, two-tone leather seats, an entertainment system, six-disc CD/DVD changer, a rear cargo organizer and special interior and exterior trim.
Advantages of the 2004 Chrysler Town & Country:
- Genuine fun to drive
- Available all-wheel-drive
- Very comfortable front seats
- Several models available to meet nearly any budget
Objections to the 2004 Chrysler Town & Country: - Lacks a folding third-row seat
- Middle captain's chairs cannot be adjusted fore and aft
- Some cheap interior parts
- No longer a class leader in most respects
Editor's Advice: Chrysler invented the minivan 20 years ago, but has not kept up with the current class leaders from Japan in terms of reliability and innovation. The result has been a steady erosion of sales. Today's Town & Country is a great minivan to drive, but functions less efficiently than several of its standout competitors. Great deals are sure to be available until a redesigned model arrives in showrooms, and Chrysler is offering a compelling powertrain warranty to help drum up sales. But if you want a minivan that performs as a minivan should, try the Toyota Sienna or Honda Odyssey before making a decision.
