What's New for the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500?
Though the Dodge Ram pickup is but three years old, the company is not resting on its laurels as new entries like the Ford F-150 and Nissan Titan arrive on the market. In addition to the 345-hp, 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine that was added during the 2003 model year, the Dodge Ram receives a new full-time four-wheel-drive system with low-range gearing and a handy tow/haul feature for the automatic transmission. A new ST Value Group adds antilock brakes and a CD player to the base ST model. Sport-truck buyers who want added performance but cannot step up to the price commanded by the Ram SRT-10 will be interested in the new 2004 Dodge Ram Rumble Bee package for the 1500 model. Laramie models are dressed up with chrome grille accents, chrome side moldings, silver interior trim and improved leather upholstery. All Quad Cabs come equipped with a new 34-gallon fuel tank and adjustable rear head restraints. Deep Molten Red is a new color selection, and the 2004 Dodge Ram can be equipped with a navigation radio and Uconnect Bluetooth wireless communications technology.

Advantages of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500:

  • Powerful Hemi V8 engine option
  • Front seat comfort
  • Interior materials look and feel better than some competitors’

Objections to the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500:

  • Quad Cab’s rear seat is very small and uncomfortable

Editor's Advice:
Were the 2004 Dodge Ram pickup human, former Gov. Gray Davis of California could empathize with its short tenure as “The Mayor of Truckville,” which is the advertising tagline used when the current iteration of the Ram debuted for 2002. This year, the redesigned Ford F-150 and the new Nissan Titan arrive, and either is arguably a better choice than the Dodge Ram. However, with a powerful Hemi V8 engine option, superb front seat comfort, a simple and attractive interior, big-rig exterior styling and new options like navigation radio and Uconnect Bluetooth wireless communications on board, the Ram can still trounce opponents for city council.
