What's New for the 2004 GMC Envoy?
For 2004, new options include adjustable foot pedals, XM satellite radio and a navigation radio. On models equipped with on-board entertainment, movies can now be played over the GMC Envoy’s stereo speakers. Two new exterior colors – Liquid Silver and Sand Beige – summarize the changes for 2004.

Advantages of the 2004 GMC Envoy:

  • Sturdy body-on-frame construction
  • Seven-passenger capacity with the XL model
  • Available rear seat DVD entertainment system
  • Powerful engines

Objections to the 2004 GMC Envoy:

  • Skittish handling in emergency avoidance situations
  • Interior materials look and feel inexpensive
  • Lacks long-distance seat comfort

Editor's Advice:
Despite the fact that the Envoy is just three years old, we’re unimpressed by this effort. The mid-size SUV category is populated with several excellent products, and new crossover vehicles are beginning to siphon sales from the more traditional truck-based models like the GMC Envoy. Add in a spotty reliability record and skittish handling in emergency avoidance situations, and the GMC Envoy comes out near the bottom of our recommended list.
