What's New for the 2004 GMC Savana? After significant upgrades for 2003, the GMC Savana is largely unchanged for 2004. All GMC Savana models equipped to carry 15 passengers receive a standard StabiliTrak stability control system to help combat the potential for vehicle rollover. Other news is limited to the addition of a new assist handle for front passengers and the deletion of the driver-side illuminated visor vanity mirror.
Advantages of the 2004 GMC Savana:
- Legally capable of carrying nearly double the number of people that can fit inside a GMC Yukon XL
- Standard stability control on 15-passenger models
- Powerful lineup of V8 engines
- Available all-wheel-drive
Objections to the 2004 GMC Savana: - Interior parts and pieces look and feel inexpensive
Editor's Advice: General Motors fields the most modern full-size vans on the market in the 2004 GMC Savana and Chevrolet Express. Recently updated, and last redesigned for 1996, these workhorses feature powerful V8 engines and, on 15-passenger models, a standard stability control system. Plus, all-wheel-drive is available; a full-size van exclusive. Though the Dodge Sprinter (a rebadged European-market Mercedes-Benz commercial van) is a compelling alternative, we recommend the GMC Savana if a full-size van is what you need.
