What's New for the 2004 Infiniti G35? The 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe and G35 sedan are now equipped with a standard tire pressure monitor and a CD changer that operates faster. The 3.5-liter V6 engine meets tough new LEV2 standards for emission control and some new color choices debut. For the 2004 Infiniti G35 sedan, an all-wheel drive system is now available, which includes a Snow-Mode switch that fixes the torque split at 50:50 front and rear for greater traction on slippery roads. On sedans, opting for the Leather package will get you standard heated front seats and a four-way power front passenger's seat, while a rear limited-slip differential enhances cars equipped with a manual transmission. Seventeen-inch wheels and heated outside mirrors are now standard on all sedans. Meanwhile, the 2004 Infiniti G35 Sport Coupe gets a new front center console on models with the Leather package and a manual transmission. Advantages of the 2004 Infiniti G35:
- Available with choice of automatic or manual transmission
- Intoxicating acceleration
- Comprehensive standard and optional features list
- Generous rear seat space in sedan
- Ride quality in sedan
Objections to the 2004 Infiniti G35: - Some interior trim pieces look and feel cheap
- Sedan can easily wag its tail during canyon blitzes
- Rear seat comfort in coupe
- Outward visibility from coupe
Editor's Advice: Launched in 2003, the Infiniti G35 represented a turning point for Nissan’s luxury division, which had been previously saddled with also-ran product like the G20 and the odd-duck J30. No longer would the brand be defined by a failed decade-old advertising campaign and brand-devaluing discounts. The Infiniti G35 is a proper rear-wheel-drive sporting machine that comes very close to decoding the DNA that makes a BMW 3-Series so desirable. Both 2004 Infiniti G35 models ride on Nissan’s excellent Front-Midship (FM) platform, shared by the Nissan 350Z and the Infiniti FX crossover vehicle. In fact, the Infiniti G35 coupe could rightly be characterized as a four-seater 350Z, so impressive are its performance capabilities. Either Infiniti G35 model will appeal to buyers searching for luxury and performance, but each possesses a distinct personality. The Infiniti G35 sedan comfortably seats five and flies down the highway with its 3.5-liter, 260-horsepower V6. The Infiniti G35 coupe generates 280 ponies while holding four adults, shining brightly on twisty canyon roads. Ultimately, the Infiniti G35 can’t quite match the driving perfection demonstrated by that unbeatable hobgoblin of luxury sport sedans, the BMW 3-Series. But the G35 isn’t far behind, and makes up for its lack of raw visceral appeal in many ways, including price.
