What's New for the 2004 Porsche 911 GT2?
The 2004 Porsche 911 GT2 receives a retuned engine, revisions to the chassis and suspension, and a Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake system (PCCB) with ABS 5.7. The twin-turbo, 3.6-liter flat six-cylinder motor makes 477 horsepower and 472 lb.-ft. of torque. Other modifications include new 18-inch GT2 wheels, two new colors (Atlas Gray metallic and Carmon Red metallic), and several new personalization options such as carbon-fiber exterior trim, heated front seats, a six-disc CD changer and Porsche Communication Management technology.

Advantages of the 2004 Porsche 911 GT2:

  • Blazing speed
  • Stunning brakes
  • Needle-sharp steering
  • All-wheel-drive
  • Stability control
  • Cutting edge automotive technology

Objections to the 2004 Porsche 911 GT2:

  • Cheap interior buttons and switches
  • Muddled control layout and operation
  • Heavy clutch
  • Can be hard to find gears

Editor's Advice:
In terms of performance and handling, the 2004 Porsche 911 GT2 is the pinnacle of capability anywhere south of the new Carrera GT. It’s got 62 ponies worth more firepower under the rear deck than the formerly top dog 911 Turbo and weighs less since it eschews the 911 Turbo’s standard all-wheel-drive system. This is the ultimate Porsche 911, but without all four wheels scrabbling for purchase, it requires more talent to drive hard and fast than most Americans possess.
