What's New for the 2004 Toyota Camry?
For 2004, the sporty Toyota Camry SE V6 receives a new 3.3-liter V6 engine that produces 225 horsepower, an improvement of 15 ponies over last year. The transmission mated to the V6 engine of the XLE and SE models gets one more forward gear, resulting in a five-speed automatic tranny with intelligence (SECT-i). A new Limited Edition Camry LE model features a crystal white exterior, a unique front grille, distinctive 16-inch alloy wheels, standard fog lamps and special badges. A fawn-colored interior fabric, wood trim, leather covers for the steering wheel and shift knob, and a six-disc in-dash CD changer enliven the Limited Edition’s interior.

Advantages of the 2004 Toyota Camry:

  • Deserved reputation for quality and reliability
  • Roomy, functional interior with simple and logical controls
  • Terrific resale value
  • Top-notch crash test scores

Objections to the 2004 Toyota Camry:

  • Gets expensive when options are indiscriminately ordered
  • Some say it has a temperate personality, others call it boring
  • Folks with longer legs may find the driving position uncomfortable

Editor's Advice:
No, it’s not the fastest, the most beautiful, nor the most luxurious sedan in its class; but like a good student, the Toyota Camry is best known for doing everything extremely well. Members of your family are treated to a wealth of refinement and comfort, as well as one of the most generous rear seat spaces in the family sedan class. Moreover, the driver may be surprised to find that it’s satisfying to drive as well (especially in SE V6 form). The Toyota Camry’s easygoing and pleasant nature will make up for the fact that its owners won’t be identified as original thinkers. Best of all, chances are excellent that you’ll hardly get to know your local dealer.
