What's New for the 2005 Ford Focus?
Significant updates to the 2005 Ford Focus keep it competitive. All 2005 Focus models receive a new front fascia, grille and headlamps. Sedans also get a fresh decklid, tail lamps and rear fascia. Interior upgrades throughout the 2005 Ford Focus line include a new instrument panel design, front door trim with storage and drink holders, a new CD storage compartment, secondary audio controls on the steering column and fresh colors and fabrics. Joining the 2005 Ford Focus line this year is a new ST performance sedan with a unique interior, a performance-tuned suspension and a 151-horsepower, 2.3-liter inline four mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Every 2005 Ford Focus gets a "ZX" nameplate, with the sedan wearing ZX4 nomenclature and the wagon badged as the ZXW. Two exterior colors are also added: Sonic Blue and Orange Crush.

Advantages of the 2005 Ford Focus:

  • Great fun to drive
  • Performance-oriented ZX4 ST Sedan
  • Clean PZEV motor
  • Smooth ride quality
  • Entering and exiting is easy
  • Expanding and loading cargo is simple
  • Useful control design and layout
  • Compelling value equation
  • Five-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty

Objections to the 2005 Ford Focus:

  • Uncomfortable front seats
  • Interior noise levels
  • Base engine is buzzy at speed

Editor's Advice:
Is the Ford Focus one of the most overlooked cars on the market? How else to explain the large rebates on one of the best small cars for sale today? Sure, the Focus stumbled when it was introduced and was the subject of numerous recalls, but today's model has had the bugs worked out. It's tough to go wrong with the highly recommended 2005 Ford Focus.
