Several new features are now available on the 2005 GMC Savana. New seat risers with skirting, and a fresh OnStar-equipped rearview mirror with exterior temperature display and a compass are added creature comforts. A leather-wrapped steering wheel is now available, as well as three new exterior colors: Sand, Deep Blue and Silver Birch.

General Motors fields the most modern full-size vans on the market in the 2005 GMC Savana and its near twin, the Chevrolet Express. Recently updated, and last redesigned for 1996, these workhorses feature powerful V8 engines and, on 15-passenger models, a standard stability control system. Plus, all-wheel-drive is available; a full-size van exclusive. Though the Dodge Sprinter (a rebadged European-market Mercedes-Benz commercial van) is a compelling alternative, we recommend the GMC Savana if a full-size van is what you need.
