What's New for the 2005 HUMMER H2 SUT? All new this year, the Hummer H2 SUT (sport utility truck) brings all the capabilities of the enclosed H2 to the table, while adding the versatility of a small truck bed. Equipped with GM's innovative Midgate, lowering the bulkhead enlarges the SUT's cargo carrying capacity to a four-by-six-foot space. With the push of a single button, the H2 SUT goes from enclosed to alfresco in a matter of seconds. Doing so lowers all four windows to let the breeze flow in. A new DVD-based navigation radio is available on the 2005 Hummer H2 SUT, as well as XM satellite radio.
Advantages of the 2005 HUMMER H2 SUT:
- Rear seat comfort
- Three locking differentials for extreme off-roading
- Control layout and user-friendliness
- Can tackle extreme off-road terrain
Objections to the 2005 HUMMER H2 SUT: - Sucks gas like cheap beer
- Hard to climb into and out of
- Inexpensive plastic interior trim
- Open Midgate leaves interior unprotected to the elements/theft
- Vehicle width a liability on narrow or wooded off-road trails
- Poor outward visibility
- Noisy cabin when underway
Editor's Advice: Based on GM's heavy-duty pickup platform and using parts bin pieces ranging from Pontiac Aztek dashboard vents to Chevrolet TrailBlazer seat heater controls, the 2005 Hummer H2 SUT promises to be a cash cow for the world's largest automaker. It's too bad that most H2 SUT owners will never take their vehicles off of the pavement, as this is one truck that's more at home off-road than on-road.
