What's New for the 2005 Land Rover Range Rover? Land Rover is not resting on its laurels with the 2005 Range Rover. A new multi-media fiber-optic wiring harness has been installed to support the technology that Land Rover, and owners, installs on the Range Rover. A new VGA (video graphics display) screen replaces the old LCD unit, featuring more than three times better resolution and offering touch control. A new 4x4 driver interface graphically displays data such as vehicle settings and positions, angle of front wheels, suspension setting, and direction of travel. Also new is a DVD-based, voice-activated navigation system with GPS, dead reckoning, and map-matching capability to keep you from getting lost in the most remote locales. The standard harmon/kardon Logic7 surround sound has been upgraded for 2005, with voice control adding a new way to adjust settings. It also offers 710 watts of digital amplification through 14 speakers, a six-CD changer, and MP3 playing capability. New Bluetooth wireless phone technology allows you to use your cell phone through the Range Rover's voice and speaker systems. Finally, Tonga Green replaces Epsom Green on color chart. - Phenomenal off-road prowess
- Excellent ride quality
- Impressive engine
- Opulent and quiet cabin
- Front and rear seat comfort
- Quality of build and materials

Objections to the 2005 Land Rover Range Rover: - Only 62 cubic feet of cargo space

Editor's Advice: Some members of our staff feel that if they could only have one vehicle to do it all at any price, the 2005 Land Rover Range Rover is the vehicle they'd buy. Completely re-engineered by BMW during that German automaker's brief ownership of Land Rover, the Range Rover is blessedly Teutonic in driving character yet coddles its passengers in British finery. With a sumptuous interior trimmed in matte-finished wood and creamy leather, impressive on-pavement handling characteristics and nonpareil off-road capability, it's everything you're looking for in a luxo-ute and more. It may be a gas-guzzler and its cargo hold won't accommodate as much detritus as some of its competitors, but driving the 2005 Land Rover Range Rover will make you feel like the king of the Serengeti – or at least Rodeo Drive.
