What's New for the 2005 Toyota MR2 Spyder? With the impending demise of the MR2 Spyder at the end of the 2005 model year, few changes are made to this fun-to-drive roadster. The cassette player is deleted in favor of a standard six-disc CD changer, and the radio display is now amber in color.
Advantages of the 2005 Toyota MR2 Spyder:
- Available Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG)
- Impressive handling and road manners
- Surprisingly roomy cabin
Objections to the 2005 Toyota MR2 Spyder: - Storage and cargo space is essentially non-existent
- Spartan interior design
- Convertible top not as easy to fold as Mazda Miata
Editor's Advice: Roadsters aren't very practical but they sure are lots of fun. The 2005 Toyota MR2 Spyder is quite entertaining, thanks to a peppy 1.8-liter, 138-horsepower engine and its mid-engine, rear-wheel drive, two-seat configuration (MR2, get it?). Along with the Mazda Miata, the Toyota MR2 Spyder remains one of life's affordable pleasures. Just don't plan to bring much more than a toothbrush along for the ride, because the Toyota MR2 holds very little other than two fun-seeking, sun-worshipping adults.
