What's New for the 2006 Lincoln Mark LT? On the heels of the ill-fated Blackwood experiment, Lincoln tries its hand at building a truck again, this time with the 2006 Mark LT. Based upon the Ford F-150 SuperCrew, the 2006 Lincoln Mark LT is available with either two- or four-wheel drive, and is powered by a 300-horsepower, 5.4-liter V8. Fitted with a 5.5-foot short bed, the Mark LT comes standard with a bed extender, and with a towing capacity of 8,900 lbs., the Mark LT will have no problem toting vintage race cars or Chris-Crafts.
Advantages of the 2006 Lincoln Mark LT:
- Classic Lincoln interior design theme lends the truck character while adding elegance
- Plenty of stretch-out space for four adults
- Lots of handy power doo-dads
Objections to the 2006 Lincoln Mark LT: - Prodigious thirst for fuel
- Some interior bits are cheap
- No side-impact or side-curtain airbags
- Big dollars for a gussied-up Ford
- Parking in urban environments can be a challenge
Editor's Advice: Is the 2006 Lincoln Mark LT worth the price premium over a loaded Ford F-150 King Ranch? We don't think so. With the same features, a unique cabin treatment and its chrome-laden exterior styling, the Lincoln Mark LT is nothing more than a badge-engineered Ford. For those who look to spend tons of discretionary income for the ultimate bling-bling vehicle, the Mark LT will be a fresh face in the crowd of lowered Escalades and Hummers with 26-inch spinners. For those common folk looking for a luxury truck, we suggest you save some money by selecting a Ford F-150 with the King Ranch package. While it doesn't come with a Town Car interior, its supple leather seats and two-tone packaging denotes the owner as upper crust, not as a poseur, like the 2006 Lincoln Mark LT.
