 Detailed review:

We just bought the 2003 Ford Focus LX Sedan yesterday, and absolutely love every one of the 20 miles we've put on it! If I hadn't gotten into the Focus, we never would have bought a new car, but this was THE car for us from the time we put it in drive. The appearance is fantastic - we got twilight blue metallic with medium graphite interior - it looks much like a newer Jetta, only for thousands less. We passed on most of the optional features and bought pretty close to the base model (except with automatic transmission and air conditioning) for under $12K before taxes, licensing, and financing - hard to beat for a brand-new car! The car handles so smoothly and idles so quietly you would swear the engine had died. And comfort?? How could anyone NOT find this car comfortable? I have never ridden in such a small car that had so much head and leg room (though I'll admit that the center console would be annoying with a stick and the back seat does not comfortably seat three adults). The seats just *feel* good to ride in, and would be perfect for a tall person who wants a small car. The trunk is huge for such a small car and would easily fit suitcases, groceries, or even a couple little kids (although the inside trunk release might would make that one a little difficult!). I also like the fact that the trunk release is on the driver's side dash. The mileage for the automatic is rated 27/31, but I've had such terrific luck with smaller Fords, I bet it'll do even better than that! My vote? ABSOLUTE BEST pick if you want a quiet, cute, comfortable brand-new 4-door car under $15K.
