Advice to buyer: |
Ford Focus handles better, but the Civic has history behind it. |
Detailed review: |
I bought a 2001 Honda Civic EX sedan on 10/25/2000. It replaced my 1992 Honda Civic LX sedan.
My EX is a definite improvement over my old LX. I read that Honda no longer uses a double-wishbone suspension in the front of the Civics and a lot of the reviewers in the car magazines claim that they felt the downgrade in handling. I cannot tell the difference in handling, I think my EX handles even better than my LX did (with 4 wheel double-wishbone). Seems people just needs a bone to pick, pun intended.
Contrary to what Edmunds, Carpoint, etc. report, the Civic EX does not come with a 13 gallon gas tank. It is the same 11.9 gallon tank as before. Where did they get their information from?
I do have two complaints thought: the driver's seat front-back adjustment lever is defective and the seat back does not properly lock. I can wiggle the seat back and this is disturbing when I brake suddenly. The passenger seat is fine; the audio anti-theft system activates for no reason. I need to enter the anti-theft code to get the audio system to play about twice a week. I will take the car to the dealer soon to get these fixed.
Overall, I would still buy the car again. |
