I haven't had a mechanical problem with the Sienna, but I have to agree with the other reviewer with respect to the run flat tires. I just replaced all 4 tires after just 13,500 miles because the Toyota tech said they were 'smoked', meaning we shouldn't be driving on them. 13,500 miles! $277 each! My toyota dealer was willing to pay for 4 new Michelin tires, but I would have to pick up the cost of the spare kit. The spare kit, which basically renders the third row unusable, and costs nearly $700, was not an option for me. I was about to walk in the showroom and ask for the trade in value on a car that I love, that happens to have tires that I hate. It makes me wish that I would have chosen the lease option rather than to buy this van.
I held my cool and talked further with the service mgr. and she then offered to replace all 4 run flats at no charge. I took the offer, but I believe that this is going to a tire ordeal similar to the Firestone problem that Ford encountered with the Explorer. Dealers don't just eat $1100 costs. this is a problem. I would never buy another car that is equipped with run flats, period. Honda better watch out because I hear they are putting them on the Odyssey. |
