Detailed review: |
I would like to share a nearly identical experience to another owner of a Toyota Sienna AWD van. I purchased a $40k 2005 XLE Limited Toyota Sienna AWD Van and the tire situation is abominable. Another writer describes the situation as a 'nightmare', that is indeed the case. In essence there were several stupid design decisions made with this vehicle that have made it a curse to own. Those poor design decisions are: (1) to not have a spare tire....even thought the owner's manual says there is a spare tire and provides an illustration to show you where it is (NOT) at, and (2) to install run flat tires as the patch for not having a spare tire. You can almost see the dominos being set up. The run flats made by Dunlop are reportedly 'unrepariable', are priced at $280 for the CHEAPEST ones I could find, and when you have to use them for their intended purpose, they throw off you alignment and eat at your wheel hubs. THen you run into downstream issues like trying to have a spare rim and tire for the car and I paid $700 on Tire Rack.com for tire rims that supposedly were matched to the 2005 Sienna XLE AWD and guess what, the lug nut wells are too small to get the Toyota lug nuts down inside them well to screw on properly. Just amazing. And of course, the sales rep made no mention of the fact that there was no spare, the car had run flat tires, or that any problem I would later have with these tires would lead to my soul being sucked out of my forehead. |
