Check Consumer Reports for reliability vs other SUV's.
Detailed review:
The RAV-4 is the best of the smaller SUV's on the market today. I do not even bother considering other companies anymore after doing so in the past and finding Toyota this SUV far superior to any other I have driven.
Compared with the 1997 RAV-4 I traded in, the 2001 is roomier. Even the back seat is comfortable. The engine puts out more power but gas mileage is still close to 30 mpg. The transmission shifts like a dream and acceleration is extremely smooth. The suspension is greatly improved and the RAV corners and handles like a sportscar to me.
I am having a ball driving it!!
