NEW FOR 2002
The 2002 S-Series is a 4-door, 5-passenger family sedan, available in 3 trims, ranging from the SL to the SL2. The 2002 S-Series's closest competitors include the Chevrolet Cavalier, the Kia Optima, and the Toyota ECHO. Upon introduction, the SL is equipped with a standard 1.9-liter, I4 , 100-horsepower engine that achieves 29-mpg in the city and 40-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard. The SL2 is equipped with a standard 1.9-liter, I4, 124-horsepower engine that achieves 27-mpg in the city and 38-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. The 2002 S-Series is a carryover from 2001.
