By eliminating many of the pickup truck's inherent weaknesses-the rough ride, ponderous handling, and cramped passenger accommodations in particular-the folks at Toyota may just have eliminated many of the objections that stood in the way of more people making a pickup truck their primary vehicle. Without sacrificing any of its desirable truck attributes such as substantial towing capacity and serious off-road capability, the 2005 Toyota Tacoma is the most car-like small pickup in recent memory, one that may well spawn a new generation of Truck People who actually think more like Car People.
