Secondary controls in the GM-based XL7 are a combination of old GM (the power door lock switch) and new, higher-quality GM (the power window switches). We like the new GM stuff, and the contrast in the XL7 reminds us how far the company has come in its interior execution. There’s some weirdness here though. The placement of some items is irritating, such as the window switches around the shift handle and the parking brake handle situated deep in a well. Additionally, the delay for the intermittent windshield wipers is backwards, at least to us; turn the knob to the longer bars and the delay is shorter, do the opposite and it’s longer. Some buttons also made a low-grade hollow sound when pushed.
