The most obvious competitor for the XL7 is the Toyota RAV4, which is also available with a powerful V6 engine and three rows of seats. Unfortunately, the Suzuki doesn’t compare well. The Toyota’s interior and exterior styling are both better to our eyes, and the build quality in the Toyota is worlds better. Then there’s resale; the Suzuki’s residual will be considerably smaller than the Toyota’s. Also in the hunt are the Hyundai Santa Fe and Mitsubishi Outlander, both of which are offered with V6 engines and two or three rows of seats just like the XL7. The Suzuki is longer than its competitors and offers better rear seat room than most, but overall interior volume is roughly the same.
