From a styling perspective, our eyes see the 2007 Ford Expedition as a winner. The body is marked by clean lines, the front end has a crisper appearance and features a prominent hood, while the instrument panel and dash have been revamped to match other Ford-family models. Collectively, it’s a significant improvement over the outgoing version, though we hope that interior materials are better than the chintzy stuff we’ve found in recent Ford test cars. This being a full-size SUV, the style needs to be accompanied by capability. The 5.4-liter V8, estimated to carry on with 300 horsepower, comes up a bit short versus the competition, though that doesn’t prevent the Expedition from out-towing the 2007 Chevy Tahoe. But what might be even more important for potential Expedition buyers is one bit of information still yet to be discussed by Ford – price. GM has been able to hold the line despite offering a litany of improvements, and the coming months will reveal whether Ford will be able to do the same.
