2015 Ford Focus Buyer's Guide
The Ford Focus Hatchback is a 5-door subcompact car, and one of the most popular vehicles in the world, year after year. This generation was first sold as a 2011 model, but received a facelift for the 2015 model year that updated its already good looks and made its front end more reminiscent of its bigger sibling, the Fusion. In a segment whose entries would have once been refered to as ‘economy cars’, the Focus is well optioned, and also agile and fun to drive, thanks to its chassis design, suspension tuning, and Torque Vectoring Control. Despite its good handling, the Focus is also comfortable, though the ride can be a bit firm. Its interior and cargo area aren’t as large as some of its competitors.

The standard Focus engine is a 2.0 liter normally aspirated four cylinder that puts out 160 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque. A 5-speed manual or 6-speed Powershift automatic transmission sends the power to the front wheels. Fuel economy with the standard transmission is 26 mpg city and 36 highway, for a combined 30 mpg, while the automatic does even better, at up to 27 mpg city, 40 highway for 31 mpg combined.
A 1.0 liter turbocharged 3-cylinder EcoBoost engine is available, but only with a 6-speed manual transmission. Power is 123 horsepower and 123 lb-ft of torque, and fuel economy is 29 mpg city, 40 highway, and 33 mpg combined.
Why buy the 2015 Ford Focus?
The Focus hatchback is an attractive car, and the available fog lamps, 18” wheels and standard rear spoiler add to the sporty look. The interior is full of high-quality materials, and the car can be loaded with higher end features such as leather seating, ambient lighting, dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control, and a Sony Audio System with 10 speakers, depending on the trim. SYNC with MyFord Touch (with or without navigation) can sometimes be a bit of pain, but helps you keep your hands on the road, and is now slightly more convenient to use. The standard engine provides better than average performance and good fuel economy. Unique to Ford models, the keyless-entry keypad is handy, especially if you’ve misplaced your keys or just need to quickly grab something from inside the car.
