2015 GMC Acadia Buyer's Guide

The GMC Acadia is a full-size crossover SUV that shares the Lambda platform with the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave (and the defunct Saturn Outlook). First introduced as a 2007 model, the Acadia received a facelift in 2013 that made it look more like the Outlook with revised front and rear fascias. Despite the facelift, parts of the crossover are starting to feel dated. The interior is comfortable and the vehicle rides like a car, despite its truck-like appearance. Like many of GM’s vehicles, a Wi-Fi hotspot is available, though unlike some of their newer vehicles connectivity is limited to 3G speeds. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the GMC Acadia is rated as Good in crash testing.

The Acadia is only available with one engine, a 3.6 liter V6 that makes use of variable valve timing and direct injection to put out 281 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque, except in Denali versions where power is upped to 288 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. The crossover is available in both front- and all-wheel drive, with power being sent to the drive wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy for FWD models is rated at 17 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway, for a combined 19, while AWD models are rated at 16 mpg city and 23 highway, but still 19 combined.
