2016 Honda Odyssey Buyer's Guide

Unanimously praised by both critics and consumers alike, the 2016 Honda Odyssey is the latest version of what many consider the best minivan ever offered. After a thorough makeover for the 2014 model year, Honda’s Odyssey is still one of the freshest products in its category. Of course, anyone paying attention to the ministrations of the automotive business knows Honda to be something of a darling of the industry. Its products are well thought out, exceptionally reliable, fuel efficient, and rather brilliantly engineered. So of course, Honda’s minivan is a standout. During the development process, the company sent Odyssey’s lead engineer and his team to the USA to see how Americans actually used minivans. As a result, features contained therein come from firsthand experience.

What makes it move?

Honda’s 3.5-liter 24-valve V6 engine with variable valve timing and variable cylinder management supplies power. These systems enhance power delivery, maximize fuel efficiency, and reduce emissions. A six-speed automatic transmission routes the engine’s 248 horsepower and 250 ft-lbs of torque to the 2016 Honda Odyssey’s front wheels. The EPA fuel economy estimates are 19 miles per gallon in the city, 28 miles per gallon on the highway, and 22 miles per gallon combined. The 2016 Odyssey’s maximum towing capacity is 3,500 pounds when properly equipped.

Why buy the 2016 Honda Odyssey?

Capable of seating up to eight in three rows, the 2016 Honda Odyssey is fitted with second row seats capable of being spread apart so kids can sit away from one another, and in the process creating a center aisle to ease access to the third row. The center portion of the seat can be slid forward so an infant in a child seat can be closer to its parents, while still afforded the protection of sitting more rearward. Active noise cancellation keeps the Odyssey (if not the kids) quieter, while the rear seat video entertainment system accomplishes the latter. The Honda Odyssey can even be had with a built-in vacuum cleaner, because kids can be quite messy too. Innovations like these keep Honda out front.
