2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Buyer's Guide
The Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is a mid-size 5 passenger crossover SUV, not to be confused with the similar (but slightly larger) 6 or 7 passenger Santa Fe. Last redesigned for the 2013 model year, the exterior is pleasant to look at, but the interior is where the Santa Fe Sport shines, with plenty of room, quality materials and a well-designed dashboard layout. Handling is decent for this type of vehicle, though it definitely isn’t as sporty as the name might suggest. All-wheel drive is available, though like most crossovers the system is mainly meant for use on slippery roads. The Santa Fe Sport is rated Good in crash testing by the IIHS, though small overlap crash testing has not yet been completed. Like all Hyundais the warranty is impressive.

What makes it move?
The Santa Fe Sport is available with one of two different 4-cylinder engines. The normally aspirated 2.4 liter engine makes 190 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque, while the turbocharged 2.0 liter makes 265 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are DOHC units with Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT). Depending on the selected options, power is sent to either the front wheels or all four wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC and the Active ECO System. The best fuel economy is achieved with the 2.4 liter engine in FWD models, which are rated at 20 mpg city, 27 highway, and 23 combined.
Why buy the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe?
Available safety features include Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Rear Cross-traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane Change Assist, a rearview camera, and a Rear Parking Assistance System. Downhill Brake Control (DBC) and Hillstart Assist Control (HAC) are standard on all models. For those who live in colder climates heated side mirrors and a rear windshield wiper are standard, while a windshield wiper de-icer, heated first and second row seats, a heated steering wheel, and foglights are optional. If you live in a warmer climate the SUV comes with front solar glass and rear privacy glass and air conditioning with second row vents, and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and manual rear side window sunshades are available. The Santa Fe Sport is quite svelt, with front-wheel drive 2.4 liter versions weighing in at 3,459 lbs. Towing capacity is 2,000 lbs with the normally aspirated engine, and 3,500 lbs with the turbocharged engine.
