2016 Hyundai Veloster Buyer's Guide
In 2011, Hyundai followed up the Tiburon (which it discontinued in 2008) with the innovative Veloster. In addition to its distinctive three-door body (which many people are still surprised to learn it has) the Veloster is noted for being exceptionally equipped. At its introduction, Hyundai’s spokespeople labeled the Veloster the brand’s “reverse halo car." So named because while it stood out as being highly distinctive visually, the price point at which the Veloster was offered countered the practices engaged in by other car companies. Most other manufacturers generally tend to make their halo models more expensive. Regardless, the 2016 Hyundai Veloster is fun to look at, fun to be seen in, and is also packed with more standard features than most would ever realistically expect.

What makes it move?
Two engine choices are offered with the four-passenger front-wheel drive three-door 2016 Hyundai Veloster. The base is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 138 horsepower and 123 ft-lbs of torque. A six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed dual-clutch automated manual routes power to the drive wheels. The turbocharged version of the 1.6 makes 201 horsepower and 195 ft-lbs of torque. The same transmission choices apply. If the Veloster’s looks have you anticipating pavement-searing performance, you’ll want to recalibrate your thinking. The Hyundai Veloster shows better than it goes.
Why buy the 2016 Hyundai Veloster?
However, once you are safely ensconced within its handsome and well-finished passenger compartment, you’ll be mesmerized at the level of equipment you’ll encounter—particularly if you keep the 2016 Hyundai Veloster’s price in mind. Even the least expensive version of the Veloster comes fitted with full power accessories, a rearview camera, Bluetooth, Pandora Internet radio capability, satellite radio, a seven-inch touchscreen interface, an iPod interface, and voice control for certain secondary functions. The safety quotient includes roadside assistance, crash response, remote door lock control, and monitoring features for parents with teenage drivers (speed, geo-fencing and curfew limits). Getting back to that third door for a minute; the portal significantly improves access to the rear seats, making loading packages and the like back there exceptionally easy.
