2015 Lincoln Navigator Buyer's Guide

When it comes to full-size luxury SUVs, the 2015 Lincoln Navigator L is the real thing, boasting rugged body-on-frame construction, a more-than-full-size footprint, and just enough refreshed features to be enjoying a minor sales renaissance in recent months. Perhaps most noticeable is the new face of the long-wheelbase Navigator L, which stretches an additional 15 inches beyond the 207.4-inch length of the standard Navigator. Both finally adopt the split-wing grille that’s long been a hallmark of the rest of the Lincoln lineup, however, and the new look is surprisingly well-suited to the largest Lincoln, creating a bold and aggressive face that better signals the Navigator’s impressive range of old-school capabilities. Just keep in mind that the Navigator also welcomes advanced EcoBoost powertrain technology for the 2015 model year.

What makes it move?

Both more powerful and more efficient than the V8 it replaces, the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that’s standard in the Navigator L now serves up a stout 380 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque, enables owners to tow up to 8,600 lbs., and is managed by a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. Lincoln’s Control Trac all-wheel-drive is available as well, as is Lincoln Drive Control with continuously controlled damping, with the latter system leading Lincoln to call the 2015 model the best-handling Navigator ever.

Why buy the 2015 Lincoln Navigator?

The 2015 Lincoln Navigator L is as luxurious as it is capable, with a particular highlight being the new “Reserve Package” that shows off an ultra-lux cabin with supple, super-premium leather in all three rows, real Ziricote wood trim, 22-inch polished aluminum wheels, and a soft-touch leather cabin. More than 220 LEDs then cover the length of the Navigator L to provide an unmistakable on-road presence that is additionally complemented by the full range of Lincoln infotainment technologies, including a rear-seat entertainment system with dual DVD displays and numerous driver-assistance measures. But the big difference-maker here is the Navigator L’s big size, allowing it to hold up to eight occupants or more than 128 cubic feet of cargo, with the able assistance of an available power-folding third row and power-opening rear liftgate.
