2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Buyer's Guide
Just as Prince was at one time "The Artist Formerly Known As Prince," the all-new 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class is the Mercedes-Benz SUV formerly known as the ML-Class. Mercedes has introduced a new naming structure for its SUV lineup with all the models paying homage to the original Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen (AKA the G-Class SUV). As the mid-level Mercedes SUV offering, the ML becomes the GLE (i.e. the E-Class GL model). The nomenclature change happens to coincide with the introduction of this all-new version, so technically, the GLE has always been the GLE and the ML is—dead. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class SUV debuts with fresh styling, new engines, and for the very first time ever in the history of the Mercedes-Benz SUV lineup, a hybrid powertrain.
