2016 MINI Countryman Buyer's Guide
The MINI Countryman is a five passenger five door subcompact crossover SUV that was first introduced for the 2011 model year and received a minor refresh in 2015. The styling is instantly recognizable as a MINI (even inside with its center-mounted speedometer), but the Countryman isn’t nearly as attractive as the regular two-door Hardtop MINI. The largest of the brand’s models, it is still quite small. The Countryman is also one of the most popular MINIs, making up a significant percentage of brand’s sales. Despite its size and age, it still handles like a MINI, though the extra weight means it isn’t quite as quick or nimble, and fuel economy also suffers. The Countryman is rated Good in all crash tests by the IIHS.
