2016 Nissan Titan Buyer's Guide
The Nissan Titan is a full-size pickup truck that has been redesigned for the 2016 model year. Nissan is marketing the Titan XD with the Cummins diesel as a heavy-duty half-ton pickup, aiming for the niche position between light-duty and super-duty trucks; the unique fully-boxed ladder frame has been reinforced and is 20 inches longer than non-XD models. The new Titan incorporates front, roof, and tailgate spoilers, as well as a front tow hook hole cover, underbody covers, rear tire wind deflectors and a seal between the cab and the bed in order to improve aerodynamics. The exterior features LED headlights and taillights, puddle lamps, step rails, a spray-on bedliner, and a 120-volt outlet in the bed. The Interior features 12 volt and 120-volt power outlets, and a 12 speaker audio system.

What makes it move?
The biggest buzz about the new Nissan Titan is surrounding its Cummins turbodiesel engine. Using the Cummins M2 two-stage turbo system to reduce turbo lag, Rotary Turbine Control to provide performance across the powerband and manage exhaust gas temperatures, and a Bosch HPCR fuel system for precise fuel control, the diesel pumps out 310 horsepower and 555 lb-ft of torque. To reduce weight the block is made using compacted graphite iron, the cylinder heads are an aluminum alloy, and the valve covers are composite. Backing the diesel is a heavy-duty Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission.
Gasoline powered V6 and V8 engines will eventually find their way onto the order sheet, but at launch only the Cummins will be available. Fuel economy numbers have yet to be released.
Why buy the 2016 Nissan Titan?
The Titan XD is a capable truck, with a maximum payload capacity of more than 2,000 pounds and a maximum towing rating of more than 12,000 pounds (using the SAE J2807 towing standard); the Titan XD can also be used as a plow truck. An integrated gooseneck hitch (with removable ball) is among the range of available hitches, and towing aids include an Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, Trailer Sway Control (TSC), a Tow/Haul Mode with Downhill Speed Control, and a Trailer Light Check system. The available RearView Monitor with Trailer Guides and Around View Monitor (AVM) with Moving Object Detection (MOD) help make reversing and trailer connecting easier. Other nice features include lockable in-bed storage and flush-mounted in-bed LED lighting.
