2016 Subaru Forester Buyer's Guide
The Subaru Forester is a five-door compact crossover SUV that was last redesigned for the 2014 model year. The Forester is a good looking vehicle, with hints of the Impreza from certain angles. The boxy design helps make the Forester roomy inside, and the interior is well thought out, though the materials could use a bump or two up in quality. Like nearly all of Subaru’s models, the Forester uses an all-wheel drive system for superior traction, which is especially helpful in inclement weather. Safety features include Brake Assist, the Brake Override System, and the EyeSight driver assist technology with adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, and lane departure and sway warning features are available. The Forester is rated five stars overall by the NHTSA.

The second engine is a turbocharged 2.0 liter unit with the Dual Active Valve Control System. Power from the turbo unit is 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Transmission options with the normally aspirated engine include a 6-speed manual or a Lineartronic CVT, while the turbocharged engine is available only with the CVT.
Why buy the 2016 Subaru Forester?
Despite its cargo capacity and ‘off-road’ prowess, the Forester is relatively fuel efficient, and rides more like car than most of its competitors, which might be thanks to its low curb weight of only 3,300 pounds. Standard features on the base model Forester include a STARLINK 6.2 inch multimedia system, a three spoke steering wheel with audio controls, keyless entry, cargo area tie down hooks and underfloor storage, and a multi-function center console with dual cup holders, front illuminated storage tray, rear storage box, and 12 volt power outlets. Heated front seats, reclining rear seats, a power rear gate, Keyless Access and Start, a STARLINK 7 inch multimedia system, and navigation are available. Towing capacity is 1,500 pounds.
