2016 Acura RLX Buyer's Guide

The 2016 Acura RLX four-door sedan is Acura’s flagship. The big Acura goes into the 2016 model year with 19-inch alloy wheels as standard equipment, along with revisions to the chassis and suspension system to improve overall ride quality. Further, Acura’s product planning team has prescribed wider availability of driver aids and safety features. This means the model now offers road departure mitigation, a new all around camera system, and rear cross traffic alert. One of the best-kept secrets in the luxury car category, the 2016 Acura RLX also offers an outstanding array of standard features for its price. This includes many of the cutting-edge safety features most of the Acura’s competitive models consider optional—but at the same base price as the 2015 RLX.

What makes it move?

The 2016 Acura RLX uses a 3.5-liter direct injected V6 producing 310 horsepower and 272 ft-lbs of torque. In addition to direct injection, the highly sophisticated engine also benefits from variable valve timing, drive by wire throttle, and variable cylinder management. Those cylinders reside in cast-iron liners sequestered into an aluminum block. The aluminum head uses pent-roof combustion chambers and four valves per cylinder. A six-speed automatic transmission routes engine output to the front wheels—or all four in the all-wheel drive Acura RLX SH-AWD.

Why buy the 2016 Acura RLX?

The 2016 RLX is solidly crafted, offers a wealth of the latest technological features (many of them as standard equipment), delivers a quiet and smooth ride, and is exceptionally spacious. Further, value for the money is another compelling reason to consider Acura’s flagship model. In a world where luxury cars are pretty much defined by their presence, power, technology, and appointments, the new RLX solidly delivers three of the four. Truth be told though, a certain segment of the populace prefers to blend into the background rather than stand out—even while enjoying all of the latest technology in a quiet, comfortable and spacious sedan. In other words, if you’re looking for something substantive but subtle, the RLX will nicely play the role for you.
