2016 Audi RS 7 Buyer's Guide
The most potent of Audi’s mid-size sedan lineup, the 2016 Audi RS 7, is based upon the A7, which, in turn is based upon the Audi A6. Putting the sleek four-door coupe profile to good use, the Audi RS 7 is also arguably the most handsome member of Audi’s mid-size four-door lineup. Updates for the 2016 model year include a new grille treatment, reshaped headlights, and a revised rear end treatment. The formerly optional variable ratio power steering unit is a standard feature now as well. The look of the RS 7’s instrumentation is updated, and the Audi Multimedia Interface infotainment system gets 4G LTE functionality—along with additional processing power. Happily, the exceptionally capable mechanicals underpinning the dynamic sport sedan remain largely the same.

What makes it move?
Power for the 2016 Audi RS 7 comes from a 560-horsepower twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with 516 ft-lbs of torque. As is expected of a high end Audi model, all four wheels are fed by an eight-speed automatic transmission. While there is an automated manual transmission in Audi’s portfolio, the RS 7’s torque output is too much for it. A self-locking center differential is standard; as is a sport rear differential capable of managing torque transfer to the outside wheel in cornering situations to improve turn-in.
Why buy the 2016 Audi RS 7?
You’ll be positively amazed such a fast and agile car can also be so quiet and ride so luxuriously (particularly with the wide low profile tires the 2016 Audi RS 7 wears). This high performance sedan is one of those cars capable of scratching several itches simultaneously. At steady state speeds on the highway, or driven gently around town, the RS 7 is amazingly docile. Then, when you put your foot in it, the turbos spin up and fuel flows through the V8 at an amazing rate. The Audi then goes rocketing down the road with one of the most glorious engine notes ever issued from a pair of tailpipes. In the corners, the RS 7 bites with tremendous confidence. You’ll love driving this car.
