2015 Ford Shelby GT350 Buyer's Guide
The Shelby GT350 is designed for drivers who want to have the ultimate Mustang track experience. Its pedigree should be obvious with its MagneRide damping system that adjusts itself thousands of times a second, lightweight aluminum wheels that lower unsprung weight, and giant 6-piston 15.5” brakes in the front and 4-piston 14.8” brakes in the rear (and though they aren’t carbon ceramic, they are two piece cross-drilled Brembo units with aluminum hats). Like all current Mustangs, the GT350 features an independent rear suspension. The rear end is fitted with a Torsen limited slip differential to help get all its power to the ground in a controllable manner, no matter what the conditions and how heavy your foot is on the loud pedal.

What makes it move?
The new Shelby GT350 is powered by Ford’s equally new Voodoo V8. This normally aspirated engine will displace 5.2 liters, and features a flat-crank design like the V8s found in some exotic sports cars. Official power numbers for the engine have still yet to be released, but we know that it will make more than 500 horsepower and over 400 lb-ft of torque. As befitting a car of this type, power will be sent to the rear wheels through a TREMEC 3160 6-speed manual transmission.
Why buy the 2015 Ford Shelby GT350?
The GT350 looks the part, with a body that has been tweaked to help improve aerodynamics. The aluminum hood is lower than standard models and features a heat extractor to reduce underhood temperatures and reduce front lift. Aluminum fenders with bigger flares help hide the GT350’s wider Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber. New lower control arms help the springs, sway bars, and dampers work together as a finely tuned system. The GT350 is also equipped with a rear diffuser to help keep the rear tires firmly planted to the ground. The whole car was engineered to perform at a world-class level while meeting Ford’s durability standards, and Ford Performance has designed a car that delivers thrilling on-track performance while also being comfortable to drive on the street.
