2016 GMC Sierra 1500 Buyer's Guide
A number of changes for the 2016 model year serve to differentiate the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500. New headlamps have been fitted, along with a new grille design, LED taillamps, and a new optional 20-inch chromed aluminum wheel. What makes it move?
A choice of three engines is offered to power the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500. The base powerplant is a 4.3-liter V6 with 285 horsepower and 305 ft-lbs of torque. GM claims the V6 produces class-leading torque output. The mid-level engine is a 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 ft-lbs of torque. The big engine is a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 ft-lbs of torque. The V6 runs a six-speed automatic transmission and a choice of rear- or four-wheel drive. The V8s get an eight-speed automatic. The 2016 Sierra 1500 is capable of towing up to 12,000 pounds with the 6.2 and a suitable towing kit.
