2016 Honda Accord Buyer's Guide
The Honda Accord is a mid-size car available as either a 2-door Coupe or a 4-door Sedan. The Honda Accord does everything well, but doesn’t stand out in any particular aspect. Other cars in the class may be more attractive, more comfortable, handle better, or get better fuel economy, but as a complete package the Accord is hard to beat. The interior is quite roomy, though as expected the rear of the Coupe is a bit tighter than the sedan. The Accord was redesigned for 2013 and receives a minor refresh for 2016 that includes a new front end treatment, suspension tweaks, and updates to the infotainment system (including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on some versions). Unfortunately, the Hybrid model is no longer available.

What makes it move?
The Honda Accord is available with either an inline 4-cylinder or a V6 engine. The 2.4 liter four makes 185 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque (189 horsepower and 182 lb-ft of torque in Sport models) and is backed by a choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT. The 3.5 liter six pumps out 278 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque and sends its power to the front wheels through a 6-speed automatic. The best fuel economy is achieved with the 4-cylinder and the CVT, where the Accord is rated at 27 miles per gallon city and 37 highway, for a combined 31 mpg.
Why buy the 2016 Honda Accord?
All Accord models come standard with an automatic dual-zone climate control system, aluminum hood, and taillights with integrated LED light bars, and all but the base model feature LED fog lights. Higher end models get Smart Entry and a One-Touch power moonroof with tilt feature, while top of the line Touring models get LED headlights and body-colored parking sensors in both the front and rear. Active safety features including Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, the Collision Mitigation Braking System, the Road Departure Mitigation System, the Lane Keeping Assist System, and Adaptive Cruise Control are available on all models, and standard on the Touring. The Accord is rated 5 stars overall in crash testing by the NHTSA, and Good in all tests by the IIHS.
