2016 Hyundai Elantra Buyer's Guide

If there exists an automotive fountain of youth, the folks at Hyundai must bathe the Elantra in its waters daily. The current generation Elantra was introduced back in 2011, and while there is a new 2017 model poised just offstage, the 2016 Hyundai Elantra Sedan looks just as youthful and vigorous as it did when it first turned heads with its unexpectedly graceful styling a full three years into President Obama’s first term in office. Back then; the Elantra’s voluptuous curves were groundbreaking. This was the first car in the Hyundai’s class ever to be so overtly beautiful. Today, of course, this has become something of the norm. However, even with competition at its heels, the Elantra remains one of the prettiest cars in its class.

The front-wheel drive 2016 Hyundai Elantra Sedan benefits from a choice of two remarkably efficient engines. The base powerplant is a 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder producing 145 horsepower and 130 ft-lbs of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, while a six-speed automatic is the upgrade. The more potent offering is fitted to the Sport-trimmed Elantra. This is a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder with 173 horsepower and 154 ft-lbs of torque. As with the 1.8, the six-speed manual is standard, while the six-speed automatic transmission is optional.

Why buy the 2016 Hyundai Elantra?

Handsome, fuel efficient, affordable, and enjoyable to drive, the 2016 Hyundai Elantra Sedan is a very attractive car. And, like all of Hyundai’s models, the Elantra Sedan offers the best warranty protection in the business. For the 2016 model year, Hyundai’s product planners have bundled many of the popular options together into an Elantra Value Edition package. This consists of 16-inch alloy wheels, a power actuated sunroof, a leather steering wheel and shift knob, keyless entry and pushbutton start, heated front seats, chrome trim for the beltline, aluminum door sills, turn signal repeaters in the side mirrors, and a tilt and telescoping steering wheel. Other changes for the 2016 model year include dual zone automatic climate control for the top of the line Elantra Limited.
