2016 Jaguar F-Type Buyer's Guide
The Jaguar F-Type is a two-seat sports car, originally launched in 2013 as a soft-top convertible-only model, but now available also as a coupe. An updated version of the traditional British sports car, the F-Type’s styling takes cues from previous Jaguar models, most notably the E-Type, while maintaining a distinctly modern design. With an all-aluminum chassis (and a carbon fiber roof on coupe models) to help keep weight down to around 3,500 lbs and a selection of powerful engines, the F-Type drives as good as it looks, and is ready to carve up the road. The best part of the car might be the exhaust note, especially when the Active Bypass Valves in the Active Sport Exhaust open, allowing the engine to bellow without restriction.

What makes it move?
The F-Type is powered by a supercharged 3.0 liter V6 engine. Standard models put out 340 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, while F-Type S models make 380 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. Transmission choice is between a 6-speed ZF manual and an 8-speed QuickShift ZF automatic. The S with the QuickShift automatic is the fastest before stepping up to the R, and can run the sprint from 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds before hitting a top speed of 171 miles per hour. The F-Type R features a 550 horsepower supercharged V8. With all that power, 0-60 mph takes only 3.9 seconds. AWD is available on the F-Type S and standard on the F-Type R.
Why buy the 2016 Jaguar F-Type?
The Jaguar F-Type is a truely modern sports car, with a front splitter to manage airflow under the car and a tail with deployable rear spoiler to reduce lift by providing up to 264 pounds of downforce (as well as door handles that retract when not required). F-Type S and R models feature an Adaptive Dynamics system that assesses body motion and pitch 100 times per second and adjust each damper accordingly and the Driver-selectable Active Exhaust. A Carbon Ceramic Matrix Braking System is also available on the F-Type S and F-Type R. Inside, a 12 speaker 770 watt Meridian sound system is standard, as is an instrument cluster with twin analog dials and a 5 inch color TFT display and GPS navigation with Traffic Message Channels.
