A little long in the tooth and a lot long on value, the 2015 Jeep Patriot produced record-setting sales numbers last year as the entry point to the Jeep brand. Power for the Patriot comes from a standard four-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine that makes 172 horses and 165 lb.-ft. of torque, with Jeep providing a five-speed manual transmission, a new six-speed Powertech automatic and a choice of two CVTs, including one that can be combined with the Freedom Drive II AWD system for a 19:1 crawl ratio. For more motivation, owners can upsize to a 2.4-liter four-cylinder unit, mated solely to the Powertech transmission and capable of 172 hp and 165 lb.-ft. of torque.

Now, there’s no way of getting around the fact that the 2015 Jeep Patriot is an old-school choice, missing many amenities found on its next-gen Renegade replacement.
