The icon of the Jeep brand, the 2015 Jeep Wrangler remains one of the most extreme off-roaders on the market today, and it remains extremely popular, too: Although Jeep doesn’t separate out sales of the two-door Wrangler from those of the four-door Wrangler Unlimited, overall deliveries for the duo set an all-time record last year, when volume climbed another 13 percent. Certainly helping matters, Jeep has continued to update the Wrangler significantly in recent years, enhancing both capability and comfort.
For 2015, for example, the brand updated the Wrangler’s standard and premium audio systems, with the former now boasting eight speakers and the latter, an Alpine setup, relying on nine speakers, including a subwoofer, and a 552-watt amplifier. A new Rubicon Hard Rock special edition also debuts this year.

What makes it move?
There’s just one powerplant choice for the Wrangler, but it’s a three-time member of the “Wards 10 Best Engines” list that should satisfy all comers with its hefty 285 hp and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. Jeep also points out that, for the Wrangler, the engine serves up a number of distinct advantages, including an oil sump specifically designed to keep things lubricated even when the vehicle is on sharply angled ground. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, with a five-speed automatic available.
Why buy the 2015 Jeep Wrangler?
The 2015 Jeep Wrangler still cleans up among owners who like to get dirty, providing all-wheel-drive prowess that is unmatched at this price point and hard to beat at any cost. It’s surprisingly versatile as well: Even though the Wrangler is relatively small—much shorter than a typical subcompact hatch—it can provide 56.5 cubic feet of cargo space with its rear seats down, and 61.2 with those seat removed. Also removable are the vehicle’s doors and top, and with its windshield also folded down, the Wrangler further delivers an incredible open-air driving experience.
Drivers who spend more time buttoned down for the daily commute, however, will have to get used to the Wrangler’s distinctly non-car-like handling and a somewhat spartan—yet sporty and eminently functional—cabin.
