2016 Lexus IS Buyer's Guide

There is much to love about the sporty and dynamic Lexus IS sedans. Terrific looking, generously spacious, and bristling with an abundance of tech, the smallest Lexus sedan nicely blends the luxury you expect from Lexus with outstanding performance potential. A true sport sedan, the Lexus IS driver is literally surrounded by the tools needed to manage the progress of the IS. Introduced to the USA back in 2000 as a 2001 model, the Lexus IS was one of the earliest performance-oriented models for the Lexus brand. Currently in the third year of its third generation, the 2016 model year is marked by the introduction of a new smaller engine option, as well as a new all-wheel drive option, and the latest Lexus telematics suite.

An eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive complete the model’s powertrain. The mid-level 255-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 makes 236 ft-lbs of torque and is mated to a six-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. The top engine offering gets 300 horsepower and 277 ft-lbs of torque, also from 3.5-liters of displacement. Rear-wheel drive and a performance-oriented eight-speed automatic come with this engine.
