2015 Subaru Forester Buyer's Guide
The 2015 Subaru Forester is one of the most well-rounded five-passenger options in the compact sport utility vehicle segment. The styling, thanks to a recent redesign, is fresh and less polarizing than Foresters of years past, with a profile that’s far less boxy than its predecessor. The 2015 Subaru Forester boasts a comfortable and spacious interior with supportive seating, plenty of cargo room, and competitive fuel economy, along with standard all-wheel drive that gives it an edge against the competition. Subaru last redesigned the Forester in 2014, and the 2015 model doesn’t have any significant changes. Since the model’s introduction, the Forester has been a solid and reliable performer for the brand. Sales of the 2014 edition actually surpassed Subaru’s projections.

What makes it move?
The 2015 Subaru Forester offers two engines. The base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that puts out 170 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. The Forester 2.0XT has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with outputs of 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The 2.5i and 2.5i Premium trim levels get a six-speed manual transmission, although buyers can opt for the continuously variable transmission that comes on all other trim levels. All 2015 Subaru Foresters have all-wheel drive.
Why buy the 2015 Subaru Forester?
Though the 2015 Subaru Forester might not be the best at anything, it’s really good at everything. This well-rounded small SUV packs a punch when it comes to value. A total of six trim levels makes it easy for potential buyers to comparison shop with packages and options, but all 2015 Foresters are well appointed right out of the box. A competitively priced entry level model still comes with standard features, most notably Subaru’s excellent all-wheel drive system, that are expensive options on other vehicles in the class. The turbocharged engine on more upscale examples of the Forester provides particularly smooth power and acceleration. In short, the 2015 Subaru Forester should be on the short list for anyone cross-shopping compact sport utility vehicles.
