Following a major redesign in 2024, the Chevrolet Trax carries over with minimal changes for 2026.
The 2026 Chevrolet Trax stands out as a fantastic option in the ever-expanding small SUV market. It is perfect for those who crave the versatility of an SUV but want something compact and fuel-efficient. With its spacious rear seats and generous cargo space, it is a practical choice for small families, daily commuters, and first-time SUV buyers. When you stack it up against competitors like the Hyundai Venue, Nissan Kicks, Kia Soul, and Honda HR-V, the Trax really shines with its eye-catching design, roomy interior, and clear trim options. It offers the kind of presence and functionality you would typically expect from larger SUVs, all while keeping things compact and efficient.
Under the hood, every Trax model is equipped with a 1.2L turbocharged 3-cylinder engine that churns out 137 horsepower and 162-pound feet of torque. This engine works in harmony with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, striking a great balance between performance and fuel efficiency, perfect for navigating both city streets and suburban roads. Its EPA rating of 28 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway is excellent. The 2026 Chevrolet Trax is available in five different trims: LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and ACTIV. This vehicle is designed to cater to a variety of customer tastes, combining the rugged look of an SUV with the nimbleness and agility of a hatchback. When it comes to cargo space, the Trax really shines. You get a solid 25.6 cubic feet behind the second row, and if you fold down the rear seats, which expands to an impressive 54.1 cubic feet. Buyers will likely be surprised by the level of standard equipment that comes on the base LS. An infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, Wi-Fi hotspot technology, remote keyless entry, power windows and door locks, LED headlamps, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, 2 USB ports and 17-inch wheels. The 1RS adds 18-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, and a remote engine starter. The LT features roof rails, a rigid cargo cover, automatic climate control, an 11-inch touchscreen, a 12V power outlet, and push button start. The 2RS builds on the 1RS with 19-inch alloy wheels, a 6-speaker sound system, heated front seats and 4 USB ports. The ACTIV sits at the top of the lineup with heated side mirrors, 18-inch black wheels, 10-way power driver seat, synthetic leather seating surfaces, and a heated leather steering wheel. Safety features across the lineup include active lane departure, forward collision mitigation, front pedestrian detection, a following distance alert, six airbags, and traction control.
