Ford's F-Series Super Duty pickup trucks are constructed on a fully boxed frame made of 95 percent high-strength steel. This platform reduces curb weight by nearly 350 lb. compared to its predecessor while increasing strength by a factor of 24 over the previous generation's frame. The body is crafted from high-strength aluminum alloy, which Ford describes as military-grade. The F-Series Super Duty delivers best-in-class towing capabilities. Properly equipped models offer substantial towing capacity for both conventional and gooseneck configurations. The F-250 provides best-in-class payload capacity of 4,200 lb., while the F-350's best-in-class payload peaks at 7,850 lb., making these trucks ideal workhorses for demanding jobs. Three engines power these Super Duty trucks. Standard is a flex-fuel 6.8L gas V8 producing a substantial 405 horsepower. Optional is Ford's 7.3L V8 developing 430 horsepower, paired with an improved 10-speed transmission. For maximum capability, the second-generation 6.7L Power Stroke turbo diesel V8 generates best-in-class figures of 475 horsepower and 1050 lb.-ft. of torque. The base engine connects to a TorqShift 6-speed automatic transmission, while both the diesel and 7.3L gas engines utilize the responsive 10-speed automatic. Ford's Super Duty pickups are offered in various three-quarter and one-ton configurations - F-250 and F-350 - in both 2- and 4-wheel drive, with cab options including regular cab, extended super cab, and 4-door crew cab.
